Build your brand reputation with a stronger image.
No matter what age you are or what social economic standing you have, how you dress and your overall appearance has an impact on who you attract.
The other day I was working with a gentleman on his image. He was the husband of one of my clients. His answer struck me when I asked him about where he sees his overall image now and where he would like it to be. He said, “I am fine with it, I am planning to retire in a couple of years; I think I dress just fine.” Needless to say he still has about three years to make an impact in his company and his sales, if he chooses too. He has a good reputation now; however, I also see him just getting by and biding his time.
I run into people all the time that just go through their day to day routine without giving it any thought and wonder why things are just ok. My client who may be on the top of his game and makes a good living, but what if, instead of living a mediocre life, he could step it up a notch and make an impact on his Reputation.
I want you to come back with me to when you got hired for your first job. Do you remember the interviewing process?
What Your Image Says When Applying for a Job
1. Your resume’ had to be in tip-top shape, typed and well written.
2. You wore a suit because you were told to.
3. You knew how to act when waiting to be called in the office.
4. You rehearsed before you got there.
5. You were at your best and on your best behavior.
Now take a look at today, do any of these above apply now? If not, why not? If not, I’ll tell you why. We get so comfortable and laid back in our careers and our lifestyles, we don’t think of making a good first impression anymore.
If you find yourself saying things such as, “I have my job. I am good at what I do. Why does what I wear have anything to do with how I work?”. Or, “I have my significant other; why do I have to impress them anymore”? Needless to say, this is one reason why people lose their jobs, and relationships fall apart. WE get too comfortable.
By improving your image and taking it up a notch, YOU can make a big difference in your reputation, in your career and in your personal relationships.
