I get asked all the time by my clients and others, can you give me some style tips on how to look younger and thinner instantly?
If only I had that magic potion, I could bottle it and make lots of money. Instead, I have a found some other way to help you. Read my 5 ways to look thinner. It doesn’t require a workout or a diet, just your attention. Consider a wardrobe makeover and image consultation.
Fortunately there are a few tried- and- true tricks that will have you looking fit and fabulous in no time. The key is to finesse your dress by picking clothes, shoes, makeup, and accessories that will lengthen your lines, camouflage your problem areas and play up your assets. The first step is to determine your body type. By figuring out where your challenges are, will only help in camouflaging the area we don’t want to accentuate.
Tip #1: Practice good Posture
Did your mother ever tell you to sit up straight and quit slouching? If you are one that listened you are in good shape. If not then this is one way for you to start. When you stand up straight with your shoulders back and your head up, you look like you have more confidence and self-esteem. People notice how you hold yourself. It not only helps you look thinner but it also helps you look smarter.
Tip #2 Find the perfect pant
Stay away from pleats. If you carry your weight around your waist pleats just accentuate your waist and make you look heavier. Go for darker colors and make sure you have them tailored to the shoe you will wear them with. If your hem is too short it will cut you off and make you look shorter. Bootcut jeans and pants are the key.
“The most common misconception is that bigger clothes will make you look slimmer.” Vertical lines will lengthen your look, long necklaces, v-neck tops, long scarves, and cardigans. Lightweight fabrics are also the best.
Tip #4 Choose slimming skirts
Choosing the right skirt is very important. The basic rule of thumb for skirts is that the hemline should never stop at the widest part of your leg, which is usually the calf. Instead, skirts need to fall right above the knee or below the calf, which features the slimmest portion of your leg. If you’re trying to disguise large hips or a large chest, A-line skirts and dresses are best suited for you since they hide the hips altogether and balance out your top, putting the focus on the waist and lower leg.
Tip #5 Wear flattering tops
When deciding on a shirt, jacket or other tops, the first thing you need to know is whether you want to accentuate any part of your upper torso or if you’re looking to downplay something, like a large chest. If you’re a top-heavy girl, avoid empire-cut waists and colors and patterns that draw attention to your chest.
