Secret #2
Color is the frosting – Your eyes are drawn to color first. Colors make us happy. Think about it, when you see a rainbow, how do you react? When you were a young child and you colored in a coloring book, how did you feel? By adding color into your wardrobe, it not only enhances your endorphins, but it builds confidence.
So what’s the best way to find colors that look good on you? I would start with your eye color, if you have blue eyes, find something that brings out the color of your blue eyes. If you have brown eyes, you may try blues, reds, yellows or different shades of orange. Now beware of the business position you hold, when wearing bright colors, it may not be a wise choice. Light and bright colors highlight, while muted and dark colors de-emphasize. If you are larger on the bottom and smaller on the top wear your light colors on the top and your darker colors on the lower half. If you are still having challenges, get your colors done by a professional. It is called a color analysis.
Secret #3
Great fit is fashionable – If you have to fuss and tug at your outfit, it doesn’t fit right. That is never stylish. Invest a few dollars in alterations. A customized fit from a tailor can make a world of difference. Most of us can not just buy off the rack and hope it fits perfectly, so I encourage you to buy it one size larger and have it tailored to fit your body. You will love it and wear it more. Dress for the size you are not what you once were or hope to be again.
Secret #4
When it comes to accessories pay attention to size (scale). If you are petite women, then smaller scaled jewelry would work much better for you, smaller purses, thinner belts, and scarves that are not overpowering you. Now if you are larger women, you may get away with larger scale jewelry, larger purses, scarves and sometimes even bolder colors. Accessories are your finishing touches to any outfit. Don’t forget that your eyeglasses are considered an accessory. You want to make sure your glasses are a reflection of your style.
Secret #5
Dressing your body shape – there are 6 different body shapes, oval, triangle, inverted triangle, hourglass, rectangle, and contour. All of these body shapes are unique and there are many ways to dress them. Inverted triangle, for instance, is broader on top and narrow on the bottom. This body type can be very challenging because if you find the right fit for the top of your body, the length maybe wider and bigger. This is when you call in a tailor to help you with the fit. If you tend to have a rectangle shape, wearing a peplum top will add width to your hips, or if you don’t need extra hips than adding a belt to cinch in the waste will give you a more defined shape.
If you are one that has challenges with finding the right fit, adding color that looks great on you or just learning how to put the finishing touches on your outfit.
